Somewhere in the Flat Gap mountains of NC,
there lived a young boy named Charlie Shoemake.
One day in the fifth grade all the students
went to pick what instrument they wanted to play.
Charlie Shoemake stood up and said
I wanna play them drums.

So one day, after a while of pounding on the skins
he began to change his mind;
I want a guitar,
Because my dad always played.
Dad can you teach me some chords.
Dad said yes son, and he gave him one.
And the first song he learned; You Are My Sunshine.

So as life went on,
He saw a clip of a Beatles' song,
Singing Twist and Shout for the Queen.
It changed his life, and it changed his mind.
I'm gonna love this band forever.

Many years went by,
Playing in several different bands,
From bluegrass, to punk, to the hard stuff.
But the music that he loved, was deep in his blood,
I want to play the songs of The Beatles.
